Welcome.

This new site is dedicated to the history of numbers 1-16 Cathcart Hill in North London. Built c. 1860, these sixteen houses comprise the north side of the street and pre-date the mansions built on the south side by 35 years or so. Cathcart Hill lies within the Borough of Islington and runs between Junction Road and Dartmouth Park Hill. Its location has variously been described as Tufnell Park, Upper Holloway, Archway and even Highgate. Forthcoming pages will look at the the history of Cathcart Hill’s construction, the lives of former residents and local stories of interest.
